First Come First Serve

Fort Works Art hosted the first annual First Come First Serve Open Call Exhibition in February of 2018. This exhibition gave the opportunity for 150 artists who entered to be shown in a gallery space. All works were accepted in the order that they were received until the gallery was at full capacity.

“First Come First Serve” is Fort Works Art’s most experiential exhibition to date, featuring an eclectic mix of 2D and 3D contemporary artworks pulled from an open call for submissions and accepted under the first come first served premise until the gallery reached capacity.

In line with the gallery’s mission of serving as a high-profile platform for artists in all stages of their careers, this innovative show brings together an energetic combination of both undiscovered talents and seasoned veterans. The egalitarian nature of the exhibition, which provides a unique opportunity for artists to introduce themselves and their works to audiences, some for the very first time, was met with an overwhelming response and brought in more than 300 submissions from local and national artists. From the submissions, more than 100 works have been accepted for exhibition and include everything from (paintings to mixed media projects, sculptures, other genres). And, due to the free-form nature of its curation, the show boasts a remarkable variety of artistic styles.” -Fort Worth Culture Map
